Physical activity of the students of the third age university

Abstract

This research aimed to present the physical activity level of the students of the Third Age University in Łódź as well as barriers to physical activity in this group. The survey has been conducted among 213 women. A study has shown that the most frequently undertook forms of physical activity are gymnastic, Nordic walking, and walk. The awareness of the positive effects of physical activity among seniors is high. The main barrier to the physical activity of seniors is their poor state of health. It should be underlined that universities of the third age play an important role in stimulating physical activity. It can be perceived as a source of knowledge, personal development, healthy lifestyles, and health-improving activities.
