Senior policy in theory and practice (on the example of the city of Radom)

Katarzyna Głąbicka-Auleytner

Abstract

This article discusses social programs adopted since 2014 at the level of government administration for Polish seniors. They aim to support Polish seniors, emphasizing their social activity and counteracting the marginalization of this group. Action programs announced at the government level are addressed mainly to local governments responsible for their implementation in the local environment. In the example of Radom, the implementation of local social policy toward seniors was discussed. Initiatives for seniors are prevalent and participate in many people aged 60+. The senior policy is a necessary sub-discipline of Polish social policy, and its implementation at the government and local government administration level is a challenge for the coming years.
