USING OPEN SOURCE INTELLIGENCE TO COMBAT HYBRID THREATS
REVIEW AND CASE STUDIES
Abstrakt
In the face of dynamic changes in the security environment and a growing number
of hybrid activities, the role of white intelligence (OSINT) in identifying and countering
these threats is becoming increasingly important. The article addresses the
use of open sources of information in the processes of identifying, detecting, analysing,
assessing and documenting activities of a hybrid nature, which may include disinformation,
cyber attacks, social manipulation and, consequently, destabilisation
of state structures. The definition and characteristics of hybrid threats and white
intelligence are presented. In the course of the research, ten case studies of hybrid activities
from the period 2013-2023 were analysed. The article concludes with a conclusion
on the importance of white intelligence including the role of open sources of
information in detecting and combating hybrid activities.
