EDUCATION FOR SECURITY IN THE THIRD REPUBLIC OF POLAND
OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES
Abstrakt
The perception of security in the context of its threats by society or state authorities
is conditioned by subjective and objective factors. Significant changes in Poland took
place in 1989 due to the systemic transformation. Due to the changes in the political
arena and throughout the country, reforms were initiated that covered various aspects
of citizens’ lives, including education. Currently, we are dealing with globalization,
which guarantees many opportunities but also threats. Education for security
should play an important role in raising awareness of young people about threats
coming from various directions. The aim of the article is to present and at the same
time indicate the opportunities and challenges as well as the characteristics of education
for security in the Third Polish Republic. The literature on the subject and legal
acts were used in this work.
