The article provides an overview of the use of hair as forensic evidence in criminal
investigations, emphasizing its unique physical, chemical, and genetic properties
that allow for the detection of drugs, toxins, and other substances over long periods.
It outlines the scientific basis of hair analysis, describes advanced techniques like
SEM, IMS, and FISH, and presents forensic case reports demonstrating its practical
forensic applications. The article concludes by discussing future developments and
the growing importance of hair analysis in integrating molecular biology, analytical
chemistry, and forensic science.
