Spiritual development as an attribute of the maturity in an old age

Abstract

The main objective of the article is to emphasize the importance of the spiritual development of a human being at the old age which is marked with a fear of the approaching death. Existential concerns that a human being has to face at the subsequent stage of development create an opportu- nity to direct one’s life towards aims that are vital at the old age. This, consequently, leads to the sub- sequent stages of maturity. The old age may exude wisdom thanks to which a senior is ready to face the most difficult challenges for himself, for other people and even for what is more than human. Accepting one’s own old age and the approaching death, a human being enters the last stage of development and thanks to the possibility of transcending, an old man may try to search for a new sense of life which is adequate to needs and values at this stage and he may approach the absolute
