Abstract

The article indicates contemporary problems and challenges accompanying the aging of societies. It highlights the interdisciplinary nature of social gerontology and the long-standing need for clear definitions of such terms as senior, senior policy, or old age. It points out the errors in implementing public policies for the oldest populations and the dispersion of responsibility for the social security of the third generation. The importance of implementing the rules of the silver economy and the necessary development of the social service network have been highlighted.
