Abstract

The relationship between granddaughters and grandfathers is an exciting and vital subject of the social sciences perspective, particularly geragogy. This issue has been engaging many researchers. However, a small group of researchers analyzed it from the letters’ perspective. The authors of this paper have taken this task up. The results of qualitative research are presented in this article. The aim was to understand and interpret the research problem concerning the intergenerational transmission of granddaughters to their deceased grandmothers and grandfathers. Letters sent by young women and addressed to the ancestors mentioned above were analyzed. An internet platform was used to collect the data. An Internet platform was used to collect the data. Granddaughters were between 22 and 29 years old. The Atlas.ti 8 programs were used to analyze data in this article. After analyzing the content of the letters, three facets of intergenerational transmission were distinguished. The focus was on the temporal, axiological, and emotional-existential facets. Granddaughters’ sentences prove that they feel gratitude towards grandmothers and grandfathers; they love them and want to maintain family traditions and values professed by their ancestors.
