Psychological Well-Being and Readiness of Employees for Organizational Changes from Tertiary Education Institutions

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the concept of psychological well-being as a crucial factor in determining an individual's readiness for organizational change. This selection is based on the importance of psychological well-being in the realm of personal resources within contemporary human resource management theory and practice. It is widely acknowledged as a universal standard for a person's positive socialization. This article examines the psychological well-being of employees at universities in Eastern Europe during the worldwide pandemic period and how it relates to their readiness for organizational change. The research utilizes the "Ready for Organizational Changes" approach and the Psychological Well-Being Scale to gather data. The results indicate that most respondents are aware of the changes being proposed, specifically the implementation of remote education. Additionally, the willingness of employees to support leadership in implementing changes and the willingness to implement innovations themselves are linked to their psychological well-being. The findings suggest that the level of psychological well-being of employees can predict their readiness for organizational changes, including the introduction of innovations. Overall, the study highlights the importance of considering the psychological well-being of employees from tertiary education institutions. By doing so, the success of these changes can be improved, as well-being has been linked to a greater willingness to embrace change and implement new ideas.
